In Malaysia, the Ministry of Energy, Water, and Communication (KTAK)KTAK has established a nationwide network of Social Entrepreneurs’ Club (SE Club) in each of the 42 Pusat Internet Desa (one of the telecentre model) as part of their sustainability measure.

The establishment of such a nationwide network of social entrepreneurs’ club as part of telecentre activities is probably the first such initiative in the world.

These 42 clubs have todate already recruited over 1,100 members from the community to conduct various social and entrepreneurship activities.

The objectives of the SE Club are :

a. to expand the outreach of PID services to the community,
b. to provide a platform for learning and knowledge sharing on social entrepreneurship, and
c. to cultivate and develop grassroots entrepreneurs and social entrepreneurs.

Ultimately, the SE Club aims to empower their surrounding communities with activities which will improve their social, economic and environment landscape.
